Abstract

The study on land use decisions linked to sustainable livelihoods in Dak Lak highlights the economic, social, and policy factors influencing the land use change decisions of farming households. Factors such as educational level, labor, income from agriculture, and non-agricultural activities all impact the allocation of land for various crops. Specifically, farmers tend to shift their farming models to cope with market fluctuations and climate change. Transitioning from shifting cultivation to long-term industrial crops or agroforestry helps farmers maintain their livelihoods but also poses risks to food security. The study results suggest integrating forest conservation programs such as PFES and REDD+ to ensure sustainability for livelihoods and forest protection.
