Abstract

This paper analyzes the relationship between two main agricultural commodities of Daklak province (coffee and pepper) by using the Cointegration test, Granger causality test, and VAR model. The results reveal no cointergration between the two commodities. In addition, only the pepper price is in a Granger causality relationship with the coffee export price, but not vice versa. Finally, the study suggests that yesterday coffee and pepper prices are the most influential variables which have the greatest impact on the variation of the coffee export price and pepper price in the variables. The obtained results in this paper are very helpful for pepper and coffee farmers, exporters, and stakeholders in investment and risk management, and also for the Government of Vietnam and the authority of Daklak province for policymaking.
