Abstract

Upper Echelons and Psychological Capital Theories suggest that the characteristics of the Top Management Team (TMT) influence organizational performance. However, whether this impact is positive or negative remains a topic of debate, as it varies depending on the survey sample and research context. This study explores the impact of TMT’s psychological characteristics on the earnings per share (EPS) of Vietnam's listed non-state enterprises. Adopting a quantitative research methodology, primary data were collected through a survey on 102 enterprises listed in the HNX and HOSE. The findings indicate that characteristics such as self-esteem, self-efficacy, and optimism have a positive impact on EPS. Based on these results, the authors recommend integrating these psychological characteristics into the TMT development processes to enhance the financial performance of Vietnam's listed non-state enterprises.
